The Black Hole of Sex

Here’s a thing we care about.

The gap in sex education internationally has become so large that not even common sense can escape. Embarrassment, lack of will and the tools needed has meant that too often young people everywhere are being left to their own devices (analogy absolutely intended) - a yawning chasm all too often being filled by FAKE SEX NEWS. The human consequences of this knowledge void range from not great, to truly terrible.

A 2015 BBC documentary about sex education in British schools pretty much summed it up.

The educator involved asked a group of teenagers what they knew about sex. “How do you know when sex is finished?”

“It’s when you come on her face, isn’t it?” answered a young man.

In the same documentary, the girls struggled to create a collage of their genitalia. They simply lacked the knowledge of their own anatomy. As a commentary on the failure of contemporary sex education, it was hard to beat.

We decided then and there, we wanted to contribute to addressing the sex ed vacuum and to help find better ways to address it than fill it with misleading pornography. To open new spaces, and ways, to talk and learn about sex. 5 years’ of research, thinking and creativity later, Sex In Space, is our portal, and yours. Fun. Interesting. Non-judgmental. Educative. Guilt-free.

A lot like sex should be.
